Write to your MP
Emails can be a great way to communicate, but they aren’t always the best.
Emails are easily deleted – often without even being read or opened.
A post card, on the other hand, will pass through many hands – and be seen by many more eyes. From the postman who will collect it to the postman that delivers it. The post-room staff in Parliament will see it, as will the staff responsible for taking the mail to the offices. The staff in the offices, the secretary and then finally the MP.
Just find your MPs name, put their name on the postcard; the address is:
House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA
Put a stamp and post - couldn’t be easier!
Every person that sees the postcard will see the message, and perhaps you might get them thinking.
Artwork can be very powerful. Both in America and in the UK, art produced by children in Gaza has been removed from public display because authorities did not want to humanise the Palestinians in Gaza - it is easier to hear about numbers rather than think about the children that have been blown into very small pieces by the bombs America is sending to Israel.
Emails are not seen by anyone other than the sender and the receiver – unless the receiver wants it to be seen by others. Usually the MP will simply delete the email without reading it.
Your MP receives hundreds of emails – and yours will be just be lost in the heap.
But your MP does not receive many postcards – and it will get their attention.
So, post it – don’t email it.
Get the kids to create some.
Or make your own post-cards, and make them colourful, and make them stand out.
