How Many Marched in London?
How many people attended the “Unite the Kingdom March”?
Some say 3 million; clearly they have a problem with numbers and know nothing about London.
Tommy Robinson thinks the media is under-reporting.
Let’s see…
Assuming that people were not packed in like sardines – there seems to be a fairly good flow of people – then we can make a reasonable approximation of 0.5 sq.m “footprint” per person.
We know the route of the march, which is approximately 2.5 km = 2,500 m
Let’s assume that the streets on London ar 30m wide (that’s a high-end estimate).
2500 x 30 = 75000 sq.m of the march area.
A person has a “footprint” of about 0.5 sq.m, giving 75,000 / 0.5 = 150,000 people.
There are places where people have gathered in large spaces, but we assumed a 30m wide street, so on average, it all balances out.
Let’s now assume the average street is 50m wide (absurd!); this gives 250,000 people
So, somewhere between the 110,000 the police reported and 200,000.
More likely to be the lower end, because we used a high-end estimate of 30m wide streets for the calculations above.
That’s still a lot of people with wool over their eyes.
Do they understand why Elon Musk is supporting their march?
While people march, Musk, and his billionaire class, get tax-breaks and government contracts.
THAT is why the average worker is poorer, because the billionaires are buying up real assets, while the public is distracted by culture wars.
ANOTHER way to look at it… since the image of a packed Waterloo Bridge is used as evidence that 3,000,000 marched…
The average person occupies 0.5 sq.m in a very busy crowd, but the picture shows that the average person is using up more than 1 sq.m… but we will assume they only used up 0.5 sq m…
The area of Westminster Bridge (walkable part) is approx 252 x 26 = 6,600 sq.m
So Westminster Bridge will take about 13,200 people when packed
3,000,000 people will require 227 Westminster Bridges end to end.
The length of the march was about 2.5km
227 Westminster Bridges = 57 km
3,000,000 people would have required nearly 60km of Westminster Bridges.
Is it conceivable that six entire populations of Manchester marched that day?
